From the Readers: Shaping The Baneseeker Chronicles

From the very beginning, I imagined The Baneseeker Chronicles not only as a dark fantasy series to be read, but as a living, breathing world to be shaped—by readers, dreamers, and fellow storytellers. Through special Kickstarter rewards, some of you have stepped forward to help shape that world. This post honors your contributions and celebrates the ways your creativity has helped build this saga.

Book 2: Defeat

Role: Co-creator of a prominent character

John’s contribution to the series came in the form of a striking new character: Borymor, a former ranger turned bounty hunter. Over a series of messages, John and I explored Borymor’s background, motivations, and place in the story.

One of John’s reflections that really stuck with me was this:

“In his ideal world, he pictures himself in a quiet life of solitude. He probably deep down doesn’t believe he’ll make it to an old age... but he’ll wake up one day and notice that time has moved on.”

That line captured something powerful—about weariness, hope, and the burden of survival. Borymor first appears in Chapter 7 of Defeat, and I can’t wait for you to meet him and see how his path crosses with Lyna’s.

Book 3: [Title Forthcoming]

✨ Contributor: Mathieu

Role: Co-creator of a legendary weapon

Mathieu’s contribution to the Baneseeker Chronicles is a weapon of rare and terrifying precision—an enchanted arrow, crafted with deadly purpose. Without giving away too much, this arrow plays a key role in the story of Book 3, and its power will not soon be forgotten. In Mathieu's own words:

“... I like the idea of an arrow where you only get one chance..."

It took some time for Mathieu to decide what he wanted to create, and I’m glad it did—because what he ultimately proposed fit the world perfectly. The arrow he envisioned aligned so naturally with the events and themes of the book that it felt like it had always been part of the story.

I'm excited for you to discover how this mysterious artifact finds its place in the unfolding war between light and shadow.
